Meet Lynette Barksdale:
Lynette Barksdale was born in Washington, DC, and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. She graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Business Management while running a nonprofit focused on closing the achievement gap for elementary students in Raleigh, North Carolina. Currently, Lynette is a VP of Diversity and Inclusion at a prominent financial services company located in Dallas, TX.
Lynette has worked across multiple industries including retail, non-profit, and technology. Prior to her current role, Lynette worked at Google serving as the Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Google Cloud for over five years based in Austin, TX.
Lynette’s greatest passion is ensuring access and opportunity for children who come from underserved communities. She began this work while in college running a non-profit program that provided afterschool tutoring for students who were at risk of failing their grade level.
Since the completion of this program, Lynette has focused on philanthropy in this area and in the area of racial equality. Lynette continues to serve on boards in an advisory capacity and lends her expertise to organizations across the country actively striving towards equity.
